The Ravello Set removes that. The Ravello Shirt in navy over the Devereux Trousers in cream — dark on top, light below, both sitting in the same warm tonal family so nothing clashes at the waist. It's the single most reliable proportion in menswear and it works on every build.
The shirt is 100% linen, cut relaxed with a lapel collar that holds shape open at the neck. Linen has a dry hand and falls from the shoulder rather than clinging — it breathes when the room warms up, and it softens with every wash. Wear it buttoned for a meeting or two undone with sleeves rolled for dinner; the shape holds either way.
The trousers are a lyocell-cotton blend with linen through it and a trace of stretch. That combination is doing specific work: lyocell gives the fluid drape you can see in how the leg falls, cotton gives it structure so the pleat stays sharp, linen adds texture, and the spandex means you can sit through a long dinner without the knee bagging. They sit high with a pleat front and a straight leg that breaks cleanly over the shoe.
Together they read considered rather than coordinated. Nobody looks at this and thinks "he bought a set" — they think he knows what he's doing.
Finish it with a suede loafer in tan or grey. Add a knit over the shoulders once the evening turns.
